Christian
El Salloum is an assistant professor at the
Institut
für Technische Informatik,
Real-Time
Systems Group at the
Vienna
University of Technology. He has studied Computer Sciences at
the Vienna University of Technology and received the Dipl.-Ing.
(Master's) degree in 2003. In January 2008, Christian El Salloum has
finished his doctoral studies in Computer Science with
Prof. Hermann
Kopetz at the Technische Universität Wien as research advisor.
Research
Christian El Salloum's research interests focus on
- distributed embedded real-time systems,
- fault
tolerant systems,
- embedded systems security, and
- integrated architectures for automotive and avionic
control systems.
In particular he is experienced with the time-triggered technology (e.g.,
FlexRay, TTP or
TTEthernet). Currently he is involved in the design of a novel
time-triggered System-on-Chip architecture for ultra-dependable embedded systems.
Projects and Platforms
Christian El Salloum is involved in many national and international research projects and platforms with industrial and academic partners:
The FP7-ICT collaborative project GENESYS (GENeric Embedded SYStem Platform) has started on January 1st 2008 and is aiming to give birth to novel technologies for embedded computer systems that are of universal importance across individual application domains. The expected impact of GENESYS is a reduction of development costs and
a speed-up of the time-to-market of embedded system development in
different ap-plication domains, thereby strengthening the European
presence in the competitive world-wide em-bedded systems markets.
The GENESYS consortium consists of 23 project partners from 11 different European countries including major European companies like Volvo, Thales, Nokia, Infineon, ST Microelectronics and NXP Semiconductors.
ARTEMIS is a public-private partnership led by European industry with the goal to establish and implement a coherent and integrated European research and development strategy for Embedded Systems. Christian El Salloum was heavily involved in one of its core objectives, namely the definition of a common
Strategic Research Agenda (ARTEMIS SRA) that will become a reference on its own domain and attract commitment of all stake holders in the sector.
DECOS was an FP6
integrative project that developed the basic enabling
technology to move from a
federated distributed architecture to an
integrated
distributed architecture in order
to reduce development, production
and maintenance cost and increase the dependability of embedded applications
in many application domains (e.g., by the reduction of the number of ECUs in a car). The consortium of the project has consisted of 19 partners from
academia and industry,
including major European companies like Audi, Fiat, Airbus, EADS, and
Infineon.
TTSoC
TTSoC is a national project with academic and industrial partners aiming at developing a novel system-on-chip architecture for many different types of embedded applications (e.g., automotive, avionics, consumer electronics). At the core of this architecture is a time-triggered Network-on-a-Chip (NoC) for the predictable interconnection of IP cores.
